Clubs and Rallies

There are hundreds of MD clubs up and down the country, plus in the summer we get our rally season with the likes of Detectival and Rodney Cook Memorial, on this page I’ll try and collate some of these!

Summer Rallies

These all tend to be weekenders, usually feature entertainment, manufacturer/dealer stands, bars and food… as much for the socialising as the detecting!

Detectival - held annually in the South, probably the biggest there is!

Rodney Cook Memorial - held annually in the South, sometimes with extra ‘no frills’ events as well, a must do and for a great cause!

Digathon - new for 2025 and in the North!

Coil to the Soil - very North, so much that it’s almost Scotland! CTTS also run regular digs in the North, checj out the ‘Clubs’ section for more info

Just Detects - not quite so North, Lincolnshire this time. Another group who put on regular digs, check them out in the ‘Clubs’ section.

Detectormania - Proper fully North, this one is Scotland!

Scotland and the North of England

Cheshire East Metal Detecting Club - Relatively new group, you can guess where they put on digs ;-)

Coil to the Soil - Digs in and around South Yorkshire mostly.

Crewe & Nantwich Metal Detecting Club - Quarterly meets and regalar digs in the Northwest.

Dumfries and Galloway Metal Detecting - Another one north of the border.

Hyndbourne and Ribble Valley Detectorist Club - Regular weekend digs in the Northwest/Lancashire type area.

Kendal & District Metal Detecting Club - Serving Kendal and the North West, monthly meetings and regular digs.

Lothian Relics - Scotland, who also put on the Detectormania weekender.

North & East Riding Detector Squad - Nerds for short, a few digs per year, social and sharing aspects of the hobby are key to the group.

South Lancs & Cheshire Detecting Club - Monthly meets and club digs for members.

Southport Metal Detecting Group UK - Friendly West coast club with local digs and an active FP page.

The Scottish Detector Club - Club meets in Edinburgh with digs Lothian, Borders & Fife areas.

Two Dales Metal Detecting Club - North/North West Yorkshire covering Wharefdale & Airdale. Monthly club meets and club digs.

Midlands and Wales

Derby Artefacts Recovery Metal Detecting Club - Established since the 70s in the Derby area with monthly meets and regular digs.

Manx Metal Detecting - Facebook group for info on detetcing on IOM and links/info on their detecting group.

Ipswich & District Detector Club - Monthly meets with guest speakers in Ipswich.

Loughborough Coin & Search Society - Loughbrough and surrounding areas. Monthly club digs and access to ‘Club’ farns.

Swanse Metal Detecting Club - Don’t really know anything about this club apart from the location and that they’ve got a Facebook group.

Southern England

Bournemouth Detecting Club - Digs in and around the Bournemouth area.

Brentwood & District Metal Detecting Club - Digs in the South East, though I think they have a waiting list.

Cotswold Heritage & Detecting Society - In the Cotswolds area, not sure how active the club is but they have a website and Facebook group.

Dartford Detecting Club - South east area, monthly meet ups for members.

Devon, Cornwall & Dorset UK Meatl Detecting Events - Regular digs for group members, check out their Facebook.

Dorset & West Pastfinders - Not sure if they are still active, try contacting them.

East Coast Searchers & Anglian Detecting Club - Essex type area, monthly meet ups and the like.

ISCA Metal Detecting Club - Exeter way, small club (intentionally) and have a long waiting list.

Kernow Search & Recovery/Hale Metal Detecting Clubs - Monthly meets and monthly digs in Cornwall.

Mid Devon Searchers - As it says on the tin, though they apparently venture into Somerset too on occasion on their fortnightly digs.

Mid Cornwall History Hunters - Monthly meet ups and fortnightly digs in the middel of Cornwall, probably not restricted to just the middle!

Solent Metal Detecting Club - They have a website but I cannot see any way to contact them.

Swale Search & Recovery - Out Kent way with club digs for members.

South West Searchers - Plymouth way and I believe open to new members, check out their Facbook group and email them to join.

Torbay Metal Detectors Club - Covering Devon with monthly meets and regular digs.

Taynton Metal Detecting Club - Gloucestershire based with club meets every couple of months and regular digs too.

The Fenn Diggers Metal Detecting Club - Cambrideshire way with regaular club digs.

Wessex Metal Detecting Association - Covering Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire with bi-monthly club meets and regular digs, there is a membership waiting list though.

Weymouth & Portland Detecting Club - Monthly meets and club digs in Dorset. Small waiting list at the moment.

Weekend Wanderers - One of the UKs largest clubs with regular digs in Bucks, Hants, Oxon & Northants.
