Just back from Detectival, had a fantastic weekend with great people and even managed a decent find or two!
It was a super busy weekend on the news front as two manufacturers unveiled details of their new machines, Minelab at a launch event in London on Thursday and Nokta at Detectival on the Saturday… scroll down for more details.
Was lovely to catch up with so many people at the festival, so thanks to Pete and team for another awesome event, and Reef were amazing!

Minelab Vanquish range - total makeover
A select group of detectorists and news outlets were invited to the National Gallery in London for the unveiling of the latest Minelab range of machines - the next generation of the Vanquish series! This sees the Vanquish get a complete makeover with 3 models, the 360, 460 and 560 - details below.

Hours later, onto Detectival and Nokta’s Dilek Gonulay took to the main stage to reveal that they are bringing out the Legend 2, it’s currently out with their field testers but potentially available by the end of the year. I managed to have a little look at the machine earlier in the day and it is super light with a brand new screen design to boot. As is traditional with Nokta launch events, there were giveaways and prizes galore and a lot of excitement for the new machine. Bumped into Sam and Nikki from the Soil Sisters on Saturday at Detectival (they’d also been at the Minelab launch event!) who were super excited about their next project… a Soil Sisters Calendar! No specific details as yet but if you are interested drop them a message them in their Facebook group!
 | Got my hands on the new RUTUS coil whilst at Detectival, thanks to Luke at Detecnicks and Wiola at RUTUS for sorting it out for us in time to hit the fields! This is definitely confirmation bias, BUT I took the coil for its first outing on field 7, walked five paces and got an interesting little signal. I should point out that our little group were a tad later into the field as we were gossiping, so there was at least a hundred detectorists in front of us. Dug down a few inches and boom, nice little hammered! Not bad for a debut signal/find on the new coil! Followed later in the day by a tiny Roman minim. |
Also launched for Detectival was v3 of the Go Terrain app from XP that tracks you, your hunts, and your finds. Created and optimised for use with XP machines, but can also be used independently - find it on your app store of choice!
