News of a new app and an old one returning!
First up is Detector Maps. This looks like it may have been adapted for general Detectorists from a gold prospecting app. So in addition to geological info and maps that’ll help with the gold hunting, there’s also what looks like the entire PAS database in here too. Hard to test it too much as yet as the free plan is limited, and the ‘Academy’ they are planning to launch isn’t available yet… so I can’t see any demo vids. Paid plan is £10 a month, and like other apps of this nature, you can plot routes, mark finds etc. Available on Apple and Android, let me know if anyone is using it and what you think of it. |
Next up is news of an app many of us have used in the past… Tect O Trak. After a couple of years of silence, when it looked like the app was dead, the developer has taken to their Facebook page to say they are working on a new & updated version. Their hope is that with newer technology and development options they’ll be able to address some of the previous issues (GPS accuracy in particular) and develop it in such a way as to make it easier to keep up to date. Personally I’m really hoping we see this happen as I always thought this was the best dedicated app at the time, hopefully be even better this time. Fingers crossed! |
Keeping this one here for another week or so, just in case anyone missed it over the festive period!
